Essentially a purist, she’s come a long way from being the 10-year-old who was enrolled at music school and graduated with the Sangeet Visharad degree at 16. Thereafter, she trained under A.T.Kanan and Malavika Kanan from Kolkata. Basically, Nanda adheres to the ‘Kirana Gharana’. Incidentally although she hails from Bangladesh, her family moved to kolkata when Nanda was just two.
Nanda Banerjee has given performances in Hindustani classical music all over the world. Although she is settled in Houston in the U.S.A, Nanda is one of the few NRIs who haven’t forgotten her indian roots.

Nanda Banerjee has performed at numerous prestigious concerts including the World Music Festival held in New York and the Beethoven Music Festival held in California. Her music is reserved in the archives of San Francisco Art Museum. During one of her concert tours of India, she also directed the music score for Nabyendu Chatterjee’s documentary ‘The Bleeding Sun’.
